|Richard, son of
and Robert Tunks, was born
17 March 1850134
at Mosa Township, Middlesex County,
Ontario. As there were many Richards in the vast Tunks clan, there often
were several children with the same name. So this Richard for whatever
reason, was nicknamed ‘Long Dick’.
Martha, daughter of William Oliver and Elizabeth Butters, was born 5 November 1851135 at Lincolnshire, England. They were married on 28 May 1874 at Florence, Ontario136. According to the 1901 census, they were living in a five room house on 16 acres of land and it said that Martha immigrated to Canada in 1866137. They lived in the Delaware-Lambeth-London, Ontario area.
They had two children; William G. and Alice May. It was said that Martha wouldn't let her children have a boyfriend or girlfriend, so the children never married. William was born 11 March 1878 in Ontario138. Alice May was born 14 May 1881 at Westminster Township, Middlesex County, Ontario139.
Richard died of Influenza on 5 March 1926140 at Delaware, Ontario. Martha died of Carcinoma of the Liver (cancer) on 3 July 1929 and was buried in the Oakland Cemetery at Delaware141.
