Ernest Henry, son of David Tunks and Magdelena Sitler, was born 11 June 1894 at Bothwell, Ontario261.
Ernest and brother Cliff went to the London Fair and they volunteered for the army. That was on 5 October 1917. On Christmas Day they were on their way to England. Cliff was only 17 and he was sent home and Ernest was sent to France.
A newspaper article mentioned that Ernest left England March 28th, and he survived 17 days at the front. Ernest was killed 14 April 1918 and was buried in Roclincourt Cemetery, Pas del Calais, France. The telegram sent by Chaplin A.J. Mimmat to Ernest's mother said that he died instantly. He was the same Chaplin that buried Ernest in plot 4, row C, grave 5. His Regimental number is 2355458262
