Adeline, daughter of David Parr and Jane Duke Johnson, was born 23 April 1863 at Ekfrid Township, Middlesex County, Ontario190.

Hubert Daniel, son of David Turrill and Anne McCrish, was born 11 January 1863 at Zone Township, Lambton County, Ontario191.

They were married 11 March 1891 in the Methodist Church at Edys Mills in Dawn Township, Lambton County, Ontario192. The marriage record had Dan listed as a farmer.

They had eight children: David Elroy, Anthony Alonzo, Thomas Sylvester, Hubert William, Jane Anne, Frederick193 and Austin. Anthony and Thomas were twins, as were Hugh and Annie. Their eighth child was stillborn.

Annie was born at Dawn Township, Lambton County, Ontario on 4 Oct 1896194 and died from meningitis on 24 May 1903195. Austin lived from 15 July 1900 to 19 September 1902. Both were buried in the cemetery at Shetland, Ontario.

It was curious to find that Dan enlisted 6 April 1916 to go overseas; he was 45 years old, 5' 7" with a 41" chest! It’s curious because of the family story of the MP’s coming to take Thomas and Anthony. Dan had them hiding because he wanted the boys to stay working on the farm.  There’s no record (found) of Anthony being in the military. Maybe the MP’s were looking just for Thomas who was “illegally absent” in May 1916? But by then, Dan had also registered so the farm was no longer an issue?

Grandma Turrill had a beautiful singing voice, and it was said that was so for a number of the Parrs.  Addie sang in the church choir for quite a few years. Dan was said to have been a “slave driver”. He was always in a hurry, and kept the air blue wherever he worked. He was considered as strong as a bull, and backed away from no man.

Addie died of purpura haemorrhagica (haemorrhaging from mucous surfaces) on 26 September 1925196 and was buried in the United Church Cemetery at Shetland, Ontario. Dan died of hemiplegia (stroke), complicated by high blood pressure on 20 August 1929 and was buried with Addie197.
